About.

In 2018 we became the premiere wheelchair and adaptive sports outlet and community in South East Michigan with the idea of becoming a brand recognized locally, nationally and internationally.  We want to fuel sports for all well into the future!

Established in 2018

There was an apparent need for an organized outlet to support tennis for all abilities in SE Michigan and since we already had an active social group of dedicated individuals thats when GAS became a thing.  As you may know we cycle and shoot archery with a goal to add more sports in the near future.

Our Goal

Day by day we are going to gain access to as many organized outlets that exist in South East Michigan and grow one sport and recreation outlet at a time.  We have great connections through our experienced participants, coaches and volunteers.  If you have a sport idea for Got Ability Sports please make sure and contact us.  We would love to hear from YOU.

Bryan Wilkinson
Owner

Bryan Wilkinson has a diverse background in sport.  In 2000 he was paralyzed dirt biking.  He began lifting weights during college and then doing the Mr. Michigan in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  In 2005 he started playing wheelchair tennis and then played intercollegiate tennis.  While attending college and playing tennis he began to handcycle on the campus at GVSU getting stronger at handcycling and then in 2008 did the Fifth Third River Bank Run 25K.  Since then he has done over 45 races and handcycle events ranging from 5K, 10K, 13.1K 25K, 26.2 and Road Races, Time Trials, Criteriums and Stage Races. In his words "it is great making sure that people with disabilities have outlets that they can continue to thrive". Bryan created Got Ability Sports to fuel his passion for sports and recreation for so that others could experience what he has been able to and beyond.

What Our Participants Are Saying

I have been playing wheelchair tennis with this group for almost 3 years. When we get together I have a community of friends that I know I can trust and count on if I have any life questions. I also have had the chance to become a competitive tennis player and travel to tournaments in the summer months.
